Strapping tape
Strapping is an indispensable aid in modern packaging technology. packaging technology and logistics. Specifically, strapping - whether made of plastic or steel - is used to secure and stabilize goods and products during transport and storage. By strapping with these special straps, pallets, boxes, parcels and other load carriers can be held tightly together to prevent slippage or damage.
Steel strapping versus plastic strapping
There are various types of strapping, which differ depending on the material and area of application. The most common variants are plastic and steel strapping.
Plastic strapping is often used to secure light to medium-heavy loads. It is usually made of polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PP strapping is particularly flexible and is well suited for sensitive goods as it has a certain elasticity. PET strapping on the other hand, offer a higher tensile strength and are preferred for heavier loads. Plastic strapping is generally corrosion-resistant, lightweight and easy to handle. They are also a cost-effective solution for many packaging requirements and can be tensioned and sealed with both mechanical and electrical strapping tools.
A steel strapping is used for extremely heavy and demanding applications. It is characterized by a very high tensile strength and low elongation, which makes it ideal for transporting heavy machinery, building materials and other robust goods. Steel strapping provides reliable securing and prevents the load from shifting even under extreme conditions.
The strapping tool for plastic or steel strapping
At TOPREGAL, we offer a wide range of strapping tools - for plastic strapping as well as for steel strapping and, of course, the strapping itself. The model HU-P1316 for example, is a high-quality strapping toolspecially developed for use with plastic strapping made of PET and PP. It is suitable for strapping with a width of 13 to 16 millimetres and a thickness of between 0.5 and 1.2 millimetres. The device is set for PET strapping as standard, but can be quickly and easily converted for PP strapping using the additional spring supplied.
The range also includes the battery-operated professional strapping tool HU-P1319which makes the packaging process even more efficient thanks to its battery operation. An additional Li-Ion battery is included in the scope of delivery, which enables a higher working capacity and avoids waiting times while the tool is charging. Both batteries together offer a capacity for 200 to 300 weld seams and enable a continuous usage time of around eight hours. With the included charger, the batteries can be fully recharged in just one and a half hours.
For strapping with steel strapping, we offer a manual strapping tool that is particularly easy to use thanks to its three levers. Use the right-hand lever to pull the steel strap taut, the left-hand lever to fix it in place and the bottom lever to cut the strap quickly.
