Single shelf unit

In warehousing, a single row of shelves is a single row of shelves that is only accessible from one side. This type of shelving system is often used in warehouses where the available space must be used optimally or where access from both sides is not required. Single rows of shelving are often installed along walls or at the edges of a warehouse, as they make efficient use of the available space without blocking additional traffic routes. To ensure the safety and stability of these shelving systems, a guard rail is often installed for the single shelving row. This serves to protect the racking from accidental collisions by industrial trucks such as forklift trucks and thus contributes to the longevity of the entire warehouse infrastructure.

As the single rack line can only be filled and removed from one side, it is particularly suitable for storage areas where a simply structured and clear warehouse organization is required. It is often used in smaller warehouses, picking areas or spare parts warehouses, but also in archives where files and documents are stored systematically.

Single racking line vs. pallet racking

Pallet racking is often used to store larger quantities of goods or heavier goods. While single-row racking tends to be used for small items or items that need to be removed manually, pallet racking is designed to be operated with forklift trucks and has a higher load capacity. This is why, in contrast to pallet racking, single-row racking offers an optimal solution for companies with high turnover volumes and light loads.

Safety is an important aspect when setting up a single rack line. To prevent accidents and damage, it is advisable to install a guard rail for the single shelving line. This protects both the racking itself and the stored goods from accidental impacts or damage caused by transport equipment.
