Push-through protection
In warehouse logistics and warehousing, push-through protection for racking is an important safety device, for example on heavy-duty racking and other racking systems. It prevents stored goods, pallets or other storage units from being pushed through to the opposite side of a rack in an uncontrolled manner and possibly falling down. This contributes to work safety and the protection of goods.
Push-through protection and heavy-duty shelving
Heavy-duty shelving is specially designed to carry heavy loads and is often used in warehouses, production facilities and logistics centers. As they are often loaded from both sides, there is a risk of pallets or goods being pushed through too far and unintentionally falling out on the other side. Push-through protection on these racks prevents this and ensures safe and stable storage.
Push-through protection is also very important in other racking systems, such as pallet racking or flow racking. These racking systems are designed to enable efficient storage. Without appropriate safety devices, goods could be pushed through due to improper handling or accidental impacts and thus represent a source of danger.
Types of push-through protection
Depending on the type of racking system and the requirements of the warehouse, there are various options for implementing push-through protection:
- Mechanical safeguards - These include cross braces or metal brackets that prevent pallets or containers from being pushed through.
- Mesh back panels - These often consist of wire mesh or steel mesh mats that are fitted behind the shelves to prevent goods from falling through.
- Stop rails or toe boards - These are used to hold pallets or boxes in a specific position on the shelf so that they cannot be accidentally pushed too far back.
Push-through protection for all types of racking is an essential safety measure in modern warehouse logistics. Especially in heavy-duty shelving and other shelving systems designed for heavy loads or double-sided loading, it protects against accidents and loss of goods. The use of suitable push-through protection ensures both the safety of employees and goods and supports efficient and orderly warehousing.
