Shelf inspection
Rack inspection is an essential part of warehouse safety and is carried out in accordance with the guidelines of DIN EN 15635. The racking inspection ensures that the legal requirements of the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV) are met and that a safe working environment is guaranteed in the warehouse and workshop.
Rack inspection in accordance with DIN EN 15635
In accordance with DIN EN 15635 and DGUV 108-007, the safety and stability of heavy-duty shelving must be checked regularly. DIN EN 15635 stipulates that this rack inspection must be carried out by a competent person at least once a year. The aim of DIN EN 15635 is to identify potential hazards in warehouses, workshops etc. at an early stage and prevent potential accidents.
To this end, various aspects of warehouse racking are examined as part of the racking inspection. For example, the static properties of pallet racking and other long-span racking are checked to ensure the stability and vertical alignment of the rack supports. The racking inspection also looks for damage, in particular cracks in weld seams or in the base material. The securing elements are assessed in terms of their effectiveness and condition. The stability of the load units is also checked to ensure that the loads are properly supported.
